Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu -- Hudson Soft

Jackie Chan comes to the Turbo Grafx-16 in Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu. This side scrolling fight game boasts large characters and amusing sound effects. Special power-ups allow players to use different kung-fu style moves, as well as a power punch.

I wonder what the programmers were smoking when they wrote this game. Although fun, the sound effects are out of this stratosphere. Almost worth buying just to hear them. Whether its some huhy, chuny, or chumny, with every move Jackie never shuts up. I've seen better character animation, but at least they are all large. This game would be awesome on the Turbo Express. Overall not too bad.

It looks like a kids game until you've played it. The game has a cute look, with characters running around with heads bigger than their bodies. But looks can be deceiving, underneath the childish facade is a challenging game. The sound effects are just out of this world, with all the little yells that Jackie Chan makes. The game play isn't anything to special. The game is definitely an improvement over the original for the NES. This cart is definitely worth renting.

R.I.P.
Oh my gosh, this title is hilarious. When I first turned it on I had my doubts, but after I started playing it I about lost it! Not only are your character's actions comical, he also does the full complement of sound effects that any late-night, grade-B, kung-fu, action flick would be proud to boast. Let's face it, this game may be average in its gameplay and use of graphics, but the sound itself more than makes up for it. Definitely a blast!

Salamander
B-rated kung-fu comes to home video games in Jackie Chan's Action Kung-Fu. Like grade-B martial arts films, the visuals weren't that exciting, and the play control could have used a bit of work as well. What really sets this game apart, however, are the sound effects. The variety of different kung-fu noises Jackie Chan makes are nothing short of hilarious. These effects coupled with a few completely ludicrous character animations make this game a blast to watch. While I would not suggest this title to anyone looking for an in-depth game, I would positively suggest it to anyone looking for a good laugh.
