Destruction Derby -- Sony Interactive (Psygnosis)

Smash your way to victory in Destruction Derby by Sony Psygnosis. Choose from three cars and numerous tracks, including a variety of ovals, figure eights, and the wicked "bowl." A multi-player mode lets you compete against a friend in this 3D polygon racing/demolition game for the Sony PlayStation.

Ferrari Man
Racing... Not really. Fun... Absolutely! From the incredible bowl track, to the smashing figure eight tracks, this game is a real winner. The graphics are smooth, crisp, and very realistic. The running commentary is as good as a live demolition derby, and the control might actually make you think you just backed into a concrete wall at 25 miles an hour. While I didn't have the typical racing game urge to have to go as fast as possible, I found a new love with accepting defeat, just so long as I could smash into someone first. Anyone with a PlayStation needs to at least play this one. Highly recommended.

Now really, who DOESN'T enjoy smashing a ton of twisted metal into another ton of twisted metal? The racing/demolition was neat, but my favorite was "the bowl". All the cars gather in a closed arena, and whoever can keep their car running the longest wins. You get bonus points for smashing other cars and causing them to spin as many times as you can. Any game where you get points for wrecking into things as hard as you can -- with truly superior graphics and great sound to boot -- is a sure fire winner with me!
