Resident Evil is the second coming of Capcom. Resident Evil is absolutly awesome. Resident Evil is absolutely terrifying. Resident Evil is sort of a much improved Alone in the Dark (MUCH improved). Resident Evil is genre-defining and ground-breaking--the PlayStation has been getting a lot of those lately. Skip SF Alpha and buy Capcom's true comeback game.

R.I.P.
This game kicks butt. Possibly one of the most exciting titles this year, and one of the most exciting titles from Capcom in ages. Resident Evil marks the re-birth of Capcom, let's hope it is an indication of what's to come in the future. I can't even begin to count the number of times I jumped in my skin while playing this game... which brings up a good point. This game is absolutely NOT, I repeat NOT, for children. There are gruesome displays of gore, body mutilation, and other mature imagery in this title, and while it may not be so bad as to make someone ill, it is certainly enough to give a child nightmares. Graphics in this game are beyond exceptional and set new standards for the genre. Sound and music are very well orchestrated, giving the game great suspense. Gameplay and control are top notch as well, although I have one complaint -- I do not like the way the game represents knife combat. When you must resort to using a knife to fight zombies, consider yourself lucky if you survive, the recoil after each stab is horrendously long, giving the monsters plenty of time to strike in-between your blows. In real life (look, I'm comparing this game to real life... geeze!) knife fighting is very fast and it is completely possible to dominate an opponent with just a blade. Discarding this one item, this game is fantastic and if you miss out on it, you'll be missing out on one of the significant titles of the year.
