Total Eclipse Turbo -- Crystal Dynamics

The Drak-sai have invaded and plan to subject the human race to "The Hunt". As a member of the Stellar Guard, it is up to you to strike back at the heart of the Drak-sai empire in your star fighter, through 20 rounds of pulse pounding combat. Total Eclipse Turbo is from Crystal Dynamics for the Sony PlayStation.

Ooooohh Total Eclipse on the PlayStation... I guess I won't have to use up one of my three wishes. On a more serious note, however, I strongly disliked this heap on the 3DO and I actually think it is worse in some respects on the PlayStation. As Bill the Cat would say, "Ack thhpt!"

Ok... what's "Turbo" about this? The game is basically the same as the 3DO version except that the graphics are definitaly better by a bunch, and the ground ripples around as you fly over it now. Also, the levels are about a bazzilion times longer with no real additions and more of the same'ol thing. I actually enjoyed this game on the 3DO, and thought the levels were just about right on that version, but in this new release, they're just WAY to long, and I grew bored with the game rather quickly. Besides, they didn't fix the one thing that pissed me off about the 3DO version, and still irritates me to no end in this new release... If you fly past an object (for instance a mountain) and you move to swerve in behind it, if it clips your screen at all (even a tap near the corner of the screen), it still does you damage! What's up with that!?! Why do you put the collision counter on the camera? Put it on the ship!!! If you're dying for a shooter on the PlayStation, there is far greater fare out there than this.
